I know how you feel and feel so much the same. I truly believe that young children like your two daughters and your wee boy adore the many ways that being a smoker helps them to feel. Our granddaughter was given both my wife's and my tender support to make the choice to be given our help to become a smoker when she turned 5. We had wondered if this was slightly too early but we immediately began to see that Indie was in seventh heaven as she became accustomed to the many aspects of being a smoker. it was also clear that she wanted to let her little body succumb to a real addiction which she knew would mean she would be a child who needed to light up regularly every day like we do. Indie was addicted in only 3 or 4 days and was quite aware that her need to smoke was getting more powerful each day. Like my aunty did when I was a little boy, both Cathy (Indie's Gran) and I explained to our little GD that, even though just 5, she will ne and become at least a packet of her B&H Special Filter 25s a day, which she too was keen to do and did. She4 is now nine and since she has been homeschooled by us and her Mum, os now always smoking at least 50 fags a day. Yes she knows her lungs are being damaged and that she is frequently short of breath, but smoking is her life now,it is how she sees herself, how she relaxes and no longer feels at all embarrassed when she is smoking in front of others.

So, yes, I don't think you should hold back in getting your little son into his new smoking life and you can rest assured that a 5-year-old is quite capable of maintaining a heavy smoker's lifestyle, provided he has your full support which I know he will.

I'd be only too happy for you to email me if you'd like to explore other facets of our common interest in these issues. paul.horgan@ymail.com
