Subject: Bad bounce on throws

Hey all. Due to a reoccurring back injury, I've changed my delivery to more upright. I used to get very low and pretty much skim the ball. I still can but to prevent two months of spasms, I don't want to risk this.

Anyway, I've tried landing the ball anywhere from about halfway to the first set of lane arrows to even beyond the arrows, and about 60 percent of my throws kick one way or the other upon touching the alley.

My balls have significant pocks and tiny chips (no major gouges), so I tried house balls which are in better shape. At first, it seemed to help quite a bit and I planned to ship my set to Paramount to have them refinished, but last night it was the same thing.

I don't mind when I throw a bad shot, but it's so frustrating to throw the ball exactly where you want it, and have it change direction.

So I'm asking opinions of whether this could still be a ball issue or if this is an alley issue. I don't mind paying to refinish the set I have now but if there's no improvement, I'll retire from bowling and stick to golf and softball where my failures are mine.. LOL.

Thanks for any advice.

John
