Qantas, Australia Post To Restructure Freight Ventures -Report
30/11/2010 7:36AM

SYDNEY (Dow Jones)--Qantas Airways Ltd. (QAN.AU) and Australia Post have decided against merging the two joint-venture freight companies they operate, says a report in Tuesday's Australian Financial Review.

The two companies will instead install a holding company over Star Track Express and Australia Air Express to instigate structural changes, said Qantas Chief Financial Officer Gareth Evans, according to the report.

"Right now, the retail business is managed together with the wholesale in both companies," the report quotes Evans as saying. "By shifting the structure around we can get more focus in each business, and it leaves distinct retail and wholesale operations rather than collapsing them all together."
