Well it -is- against the rules and GM's will ban your account if they find out. Just a matter of right and wrong really. I personally would never let someone else play on my account and especially on Azpen. I've put in many boring hours to get that character to where he is now and I'm glad I did the work.

I'd have to disagree here. I doubt -most- people do it.
And of course the char has benefitted. If three people ( at least) are playing, he should be 60 by now.
