Take Lortab exactly as prescribed. Never take Lortab in larger amounts, or for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Tell your doctor if the medicine seems to stop working as well in relieving your pain. An overdose of acetaminophen can damage your liver. Adults should not take more than 1 gram (1000 mg) of acetaminophen per dose or 4 grams (4000 mg) per day. If you drink more than 3 alcoholic beverages per day, never take more than 2 grams (2000 mg) of acetaminophen per day. One Lortab tablet may contain up to 500 mg of acetaminophen. Know the amount of acetaminophen in the specific product you are taking. Measure the liquid form of Lortab with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon.
