The Alabama Highway patrol bought these for the speed they could attain--- NOT the sportscar look. They had some of them unmarked with door badges just on the right door. That way after you passed them they would pull up along side of you and stop you. I had one of these cars go by me once on interstate 10 at over a 100 plus chasing someone... It was well known at the time by the local hotrodders NOT to try and outrun one! There is a website about these cars, and there is some of the remaining cars restored on the site... Including one restored for the Alabama Highway Patrol museum.
