In reply to: Giant 's message, "If it's a daily driver, for sure, go with the basecoat/clearcoat paint. Do NOT go with the integrated clearcoat paint. It'll come off after two years on a daily driver. That's why they only give a two year warranty on that one." on 10:17:57 12/31/02 Tue

If you want a warranty do not have your car painted at MAACO, you get what you pay for. They do good work for the price, but I always do a lot of the prep work myself. I ALWAYS get the integrated clearcoat paint, never had a problem with it even after 10 years on my truck. The thick clearcoats are what will break up in a few years especially if the car is left parked outside and exposed to the sun and rain, etc. If you want a true clearcoat get an expensive paint job at one of those regular bodyshops. The MAACO warranty is nothing to rely upon, it's just one of their sales tools. The warranty length has nothing to do with how long the job will last.

I agree, it depends on the quality of work the individual Maaco store does. One Maaco manager once told me that he advises to take the integrated clearcoat paint and come back every couple of years for a repaint as it is cheap enough to do so. (NT)Giant20:25:34 12/31/02 Tue
