Subject: Day four....
In reply to: Natalie 's message, "My son's first day in a skirt!" on 14:27:03 02/05/12 Sun

Phew... Another interesting day... Today my daughter asked her brother if he wanted to go to the movies with her an another girl. I didn't trust my ears, she never asked him before, so I went to pay attention to the rest...
When my son agreed to go with them, my daughter asked him if he would wear yesterday's outfit. My son was unsure and asked why he should do so. My daughter told him that he looks so good in it and that he enjoyed the dress also. My son didn't answer and went back to do his homework.
At 3:00pm the friend of my daughter arrived and after she came in, I could tell she was looking for something. Then she asked where my son was. I told her that he was in his room and she looked at my daughter and asked if he was coming along. My daughter was a little nervous and said she would ask him again. I just watched the situation... 10 minutes later, my daughter came down, smiled - and right behind her, my son came down the stairs, wearing the blue jumper, the red sweater and the red tights. My daughter's friend said "wow" and I asked her why she said that. She smiled and said that my son was the first boy she saw wearing a dress and tights and that he looked so cute and she wished she could have her brother wear girl's clothes. I asked my son if he felt comfortable and if he really wanted to go out in the dress. After thinking a little, he said that he wanted to go with the girls, but asked if we could make him look a bit more like a girl. So we worked a bit in his hair which is kind of short but we managed to create a girlish style. Then we put a very little make-up on him and my daughter brought some clip-on earrings. When we were done, he put a pair of my daughter's boots, which did not fit perfectly but just looked good with the outfit. He looked very girlish, a lot more than in the past days. Then it was time to go, for a moment he hesitated, but then stepped out and walked in the middle of the girls down the street. I looked after them until I couldn't see them anymore.
When they cam back at 6:30 I could tell that my son had enjoyed the walks to and from the cinema. My daughter said that he behaved very girlish and no one recognized him as a boy, he had been addressed as "young lady, little girl" a few times.
Before he went to bed he said that he and his sister had stopped at a store where she had shown him two nice skirts and he asked if we could go and get the skirts for him. I said, if he really, really wants to, we'll go and he can try them on. If they fit, we'll get them. I asked him what made him to change his mind on girl's clothes so fast and he again explained that they are so much nicer and more comfortable to wear. He then asked if he could wear a skirt to school one day. I told him that this was not possible for a while and told him, that the risk of being bullied by the other boys was just to great. He then said that the other girls would help him if that happened. I told him that I still didn't think that this was a good idea. We agreed that - when he is off school - he can wear girl's clothes from now on whenever he wants to.
I am not sure what I started, but called I called Elena to tell her the events. Elena suggested that her son and my son could wear girl's clothes to school together some day. I told her I was not sure, she then suggested to put the boys in girl's kilts (kilted skirts). Kilts are kind of accepted for boys.. I told her we should wait and see. Wow, i would have never thought that my son would actually ask me to buy him skirts...
