Subject: Meanwhile, back at Recruiting Central

We all certainly hope the benefits froths team's intra-season and post-season run pays dividends for the program in the short-run. i.e. recruiting.

Any one know what the remaining priorities are for this incoming class ?

And how the Gate class is stacking up against the other schools in the PL so far for the class coming in next fall ?

Lafayette has used all its scholarships. Bucknell just got verbals from two fast kids from the Carolinas.

Can this group remain hungry ?
Can the MO help build the Program ?
I'd hate to see the MO fizzle out !
Is this a one year phenomena like Gate's other historic runs that had no follow through in the following year ?
Any thoughts ?

Delaware has our number, including their ex-coaches...they did a great job at exploiting our weaknesses and with superior talent it wasn't much of a game...that being said, I think we've made some real strides in year #3 of scholarship football and the future is promising...we need obvious help in the secondary and, frankly, an uptick in our passing game (I actually thought Jake's two last throwing games were not too good)...that being said, the team plays for this coach, the overall talent level is improving and I am optimistic (yes, TheCoat is happy this evening) about the future...Sam Houston was a clone of Baylor, Texas Tech, etc. and we must remember that they gained 630 yards against the latter this year...the top I-AA programs, at least many of them, are programs shooting for the next level...I like our team into 2016 and like the way the coaching staff has matured in a parallel fashion...GO GATE

If the Coat is happy, that makes my day! Seriously, I remember back in June, July, August when we were all trying to figure out how this season would pan out, with Fordham being the consensus "top dog" and the rest of the PL teams fighting it out for second place. Hrumph! Well we did a great job of sandbagging everyone - (haha) - starting out 0-3 and 2-4 before running the table in the league and beating UNH, JMU, and going to the FCS quarterfinals vs Sam Houston. This Colgate team was very unique in the way it navigated through the season, and will take it's place in Red Raider lore.

Now that the season is over one can see the elements of this program come into focus that bode well for next season and into the future: a first rate head coach who has the respect of his players and is not wedded to any one strategy for winning games; a coaching staff that knows how to use the players on the roster and how to adjust to changes on the field to "get it done" during games; players that are athletic and intelligent, who can be coached, and know how to make the best of their abilities. As schollies become FULLY complete next year, hopefully all these qualities will continue. In the capable hands of Coach Hunt, and the backing of Vicki and the administration, I believe we are entering a new - and much anticipated - era in 'Gate football. We may not be back in 1932, with Rose Bowl non-bids or games against Michigan OR Alabama, however we now find ourselves the top team in the PL, and should find ourselves in that tier for some time. Things have never looked more positive for Raider football in IMHO.

Agree 100%. Cannot wait for the 2016 season. Go Gate!

Credit to Dick Biddle for establishing a tremendous brand of program with much success and pride. His final season wasn't his best and perhaps he knew it was time to leave and for someone with a similar (yet different) mindset to resurrect a scholarship program. Class act. He continues to tweet and is obviously an avid Raider for life and will always bleed Colgate maroon.

According the the Post Standard, Lafayette landed a great catch that chose them over Syracuse! Saw that Bucknell has a 3-star QB, I think. Is there a link that lists all PL recruits/offers/commits and is as thorough as ours on the Colgate Football Memorabilia page?

Very optimistic for next season with a great core returning. This year also showed the immediate impact of freshmen, like Ives and a few others. Still think most WRs are underutilized in the passing game. Some of the highlight-reel catches in the JMU game are proof of that. Our quadruple-threat running game of Wilkins-Holland-Russell-Melville is something that is money well spent!!! SHSUs double-QB threat is also something you don't hear of very often. It could have helped us last season!

more than a core returning for 2016. 1 starter on O and 1 starter on D are leaving, everyone else is back!
that should be huge add in more experience, a group that learned how to win as the season progressed, a coaching staff that improved a lot as the season progressed...could be a repeat!?!?!

Webber has been a big contributor and leader and Russell has been a terrific and steady ball carrier. Both will be missed. One also has to look at the juniors who will leave next year when thinking about recruiting as it take
S a year or tow to work guys in.
Since I always think that you go no where without a great o-line. We need to feed in some guys to replace those who leave in the next 2 years. We need a better passing game so another QB would be on my Christmas list.
Because we run another TB is a good idea (maybe they already have that commit. The rest is adding to the DB and d- line depth.

You are correct about better than a core returning, but your numbers are definitely incorrect. There are four starters on offense leaving, Quazza, Weber and Russell and Sawin. There are three starters on defense leaving, McCullom, Buttermore and Ford along with Nikko Armiento. I personally believe that all of those are similarly replaceable with guys on the roster except Quazza and Weber, but we add Bridgeforth and Steffen back to the defense and should be excellent again next year. We will go as far as Jake and the hopefully better less predictable play calling takes us. Go 'gate!

yes! my bad! on the O on the D McCullon & Ford really weren't starters as much as pressed into service after injuries to starters that return next year. Point well taken and Great returning lineup!

The goal is really to have posters dictate that. Hoping for all new topics to be posted over there and for this to eventually die out on it's own. I'd guess that the absolute last day will be towards the end of Q1 2016.
