Subject: Proof that scholarships are working.....

win or lose on saturday this has got to be the best proof yet that the caliber of athlete has been raised at Colgate. Fordham beating Temple and Army also shows this. I have never seen a defense be able to shut down two CAA powers in back to back weeks since the playoff run of 2003. I also have not seen the kind of speed we have since 2003. Seeing QB Jake Melville sprint down the field and out run those fast corners for JMU reminded me of the FAU game and one of our speedster WR at the time (christie?) torching their dbacks too.

Alum, I'm inclined to agree with you. As noted, this is still a work- in- progress. I believe the remarkable growth of this team intra-season points to the contribution of Dan Hunt and his coaching staff as well and other more subtle supportive background issues ( V. Chun's dedication, a supportive Bot, etc. )

In contrast, look at the situation at, for example, Lafayette. They have schollies. But they don't have the other subtle variables that are contributing to our success.

What perhaps is more significant than schollies, in isolation at this point is how the progress intra-season and in post-season success will reinforce Gate's leadership role among its PL brethren. We were after all with Lehigh, the institutions supporting Fordham's move toward schollies.
It's not surprising to me, that it's these 3 schools that are discovering the complementary resources to make this transition meaningful to the institutions' brands and connects, circa-2015-and-beyond, in meaningful ways to our proud traditions.

I agree with you, alum. With no disrespect to the wonderful playoff wins in 2003, Colgate has never beaten a team in the playoffs seeded as high (#5) or in front of as many people. JMU has not had a losing season since 2002, and since then has won an average of over 9 games/year, and has been national champ. They regularly play I-A schools, and beat SMU this year and Va Tech a few years ago. The wins over UNH and JMU were no fluke. Colgate outgained JMU 463 to 298. The offensive has become much less predictable compared to recent playoff years.

With a young team, some redshirted defensive stalwarts coming back, and schollies, we should be able to build on this year's success in a way we didn't after 2003. Let's hope the faculty is not as academically insecure as they were in the past, and let Colgate fb develop its full potential and regain its place in the campus culture, attracting again the interest of alums and students. (BTW, SHSU was also unseeded. Did we submit a bid to play at home, or did we again not get the paperwork completed in time?)

Almost nothing would have prevented me from driving up to JMU for the game. Unfortunately, my daughter's confirmation was an exception (these damn kids), and I only got to watch the last quarter and a half. Does anyone know where I could see a replay of the whole game?

More specifically, the choices for viewing on espn3 are: 1. Current ( up to the hour game started to its conclusion ), 2. Upcoming ( later intra-day through the end of this calendar day and each calendar day's schedule in the foreseeable future and 3. Replay. It's in REPLAY that you'll find games recently broadcast on espn3.com for at lest the last 30 days. Might be longer.

Speaking of kids, mine is a senior at Gate & said he watched the entire game Saturday, 1st half at his fraternity & 2nd half at a party that turned into all the kids watching together... said it was a scene when we pulled out the W. Definitely a chance with sustained success to get the kids back on the football bandwagon!

You can watch a replay on ESPN3. Search ESPN3 and go through the selections starting at REPLAY. It is a bit confusing finding it but it is there. I think it is available for quite a long time, but I'm not sure.
