I had to go and refresh my memory by reading your post about Fitton. Have not been there in about 4 years but, it sounds like things have improved. :) That place had the worst rest rooms of any similar venue that I have been at, even worse than Yale's. Parking is always a difficult proposition and visiting team locker rooms leave much to be desired. Only good part is that the visitor stands are close to the sideline.

Colgate W swimming a few years ago had an outstanding team that was winning the PL Championship beating Navy and other good PL teams. They even sent a swimmer to the NCAA championship meet. At that time, I believe, they had 1.5 or 2 scholarships. Their performance has decreased in the past few years. Might be due to the team losing a scholarship that, I hear, was given to the volleyball team. I wonder if it had anything to do with the current AD being a former member of the volleyball team. If so, bad move that appears to be political favoritism.

There is no truth in the idea that women's swimming has lost any aid assistance, much less to volleyball. (Where is this coming from, anyway?) Their performance has to do with coaching, who is on the team, the competition etc.

In fact, on the men's side, the AD has been forthcoming with her attention of late. And that team is growing in depth and quality under Andy Waeger's coaching.

Further, even if the AD shifted an aid package favor another sport, he/she would have assessed the department's needs based on what coaches have and ask for, and then make such a decision. Seems reasonable to me given that we do not have a favored sport whose fortunes might be more important year on year than other sports.

I believe the measure of a successful program is delivered by the atmosphere it delivers- as represented by constituents feedback. That would start with the students themselves, extend through the coaches, and include alumni and other supporters such as parents.

The department seems in very good hands which to me is a welcome change since the last AD left town. This could be due to a number of factors, as an assessment of women's swimmimg might be. Vicky has established a very good team.
