Subject: -Exception to the Rule-

Streamlined muzzle turned into slowly blowing breeze, whistling around auds' that were laced tightly back against crania. Pale azure orbs pass 'round land, taking in the stream that, at this locale, flowed lazily over shallow creekbed. Many hued fish darted among the shoals, flashing in the shining sun. Altogether it was a scene of neverending serenity, but Taryn noticed little of the calming stillness. For beneath a calm exterior was hidden a mind at war with itself. Oculi flick from river to white and back again, voice low and soft.

We destroyed the Preda Bens and the Quomai, remember? We wanted to... make sure that if any of the Shulans lived that they would starve... I was thinking that we could catch fish to help out until another food source is found.

No more is spoken as a attention is turned to stream. With what was not unlike a blood lust the Korat began to capture the marine critters, slashing some with blade, some skewered on longclaws, many more simply flipped out of the sparkling waters to the damp earth to suffocate. As the pile of fis grew, a few still flopping weakly, the black slowed, thinking deeply as work continued almost mechanically.

The same mindwhisper that had alluringly spoken of chasing a new life with the Shulans now turned harsh and demeaning. It's velvety tone whispered of how he was undeserving of Atumi's mercy, how he was deceiving all about his true nature. Wureshi alone knew his character.

He was a murderer. Yes, nearly all of Wureshi's progeny had killed at least once, but li'miri was careful to bring the chirrlings up with war-monger attitudes and blissfully unaware of the basic differences between good and evil, right and wrong, moral and immoral. Taryn was different. His mother, Kalaryn, had taught him that difference before Wureshi sent her away. He still knew not what happened to her, though unconciously he knew that she had suffered the same fate as all other mothers. Despite knowledge of that vital difference the young black stayed with li'miri, training as he grew into a talented warrior, forcing himself to believe that his father cared about him. He followed Wureshi into battle more than once, helping to slaughter countless innocents even though he knew it was wrong. Mind tricked he into thinking that somehow Wureshi loved him, somehow he was different than the others, somehow he would make Wureshi proud. A fish brushed against a limb standing in the water, bringing he back to present reality with a snap, msking him realize that no movement had been made by he for several minutes. A slow shake of pate was the only outward sign of deep thoughts except a single look in eyes haunted with things that were far beyond years.
