First I was nervous as hell for this episode. Always felt only time it would work to separate them is during the summer so was worried about that happening.

First I hate Kate lying or not sharing, but as we were told during the episode this is how she is. Very independent and keeps things close to the vest. Hard to see her doing it but it is very in character. Would love to see her not being this way but we don’t change our nature that easily if ever for some. I think as the show goes on will see her grow in this regard during S6.

As we saw with his interaction with Alexis Rick likes to keep things the same and avoid the hard discussions. Things are good with him and Kate so why rock the boat but at end realizes needs to see things way really are can’t just evade them and hope will be OK.

Martha’s talk was so right he was scared it wasn’t going to last because of both their issues and fact he has never had a successful relationship. What he has with Kate is something he wants to last and thinks by not pushing and keeping status quo he won’t mess it up. So this job offer makes him realize that won’t work anymore. If look they both need big events to push them to next step. He needed her getting shot to say I Love You. Then needed to find out she lied to make a change. She needed to almost die to tell him she only wanted him.

Jim’s talk was to remind us Kate hides in her job. Castle called her out on this before. When she was so uncertain and scared about where Castle and her going, this job seemed perfect. A way to lose herself in something that would challenge her and keep her so busy no time for a relationship. Yes this was an amazing opportunity but also a way to hide.

My biggest worry was how to show Kate taking or not taking the job that would work for both characters. As we were shown this was a tremendous opportunity and one she did in part want. Thanks to others on twitter I see the interrogation scene as when she realizes she was going to stay. That this was her home. When said stop living someone else’s life, I took that as she lives her life for her job because safer and so her life has been based on her mother’s murder and all the victims she helped. Now going to live her life for her with no more hiding.

Her slight smile when told boys had to tell someone else first indicates she made up her mind but to me was going to not take job. If she was taking I think she would be sadder as that would be end of working there with the boys and probably end of her and Castle. Then when showed up at swings she didn’t seem to be as burdened as was in rest of episode because she made her decision to not go.

I do think she thought Castle was breaking up with her and was totally floored when he proposed. But this works by showing her how invested he is and that he was with her no matter her decision. This allows them to have her say not yet as do believe to soon for them to marry. She can then tell him wasn’t going to take job and that they can work on their relationship. And someday in future he can ask again. I then see them moving in together as that seems next logical step.

Still plenty of issues they need to deal with like their lack of communication skills. And living together does complicate things. I so see them having another proposal during Feb sweeps that would be a true Castle episode, maybe both trying to do it or Castle losing the ring or fun like that. This was what they needed now but I still see them doing big and intimate sometime in the future.

This feels the best solution to where they left us. As a TV show doesn’t work if she goes to work for feds so we know in long run she will be back as a cop. I don’t see them getting rid of other cast and him following her around as a fed.

If she did take the job and then decided it isn’t what wants I don’t see her resigning. Kate has been shown to not be a quitter. Second she follows a theory or something and goes against orders and gets fired. In either case just like in S4 she would have to go ask Gates for job back. I so don’t want to see that again and would be a disservice to the character and don’t think Gates would be so accommodating to take her back.

Her choosing marriage over the job doesn’t seem in character and would make her resent Castle later. So best way is that she decided to not take it not because an ultimatum or wouldn’t love it but because she knows she belongs in NY as a cop.

Every year by the end of the first episode we know Kate will be a cop and Castle will be following her around. If she took job and turned him down would be very hard to recover from that and have Castle back to working with her any time soon. Yes could take job and say yes but again then we go back to how she becomes a cop again.

What AWM did was genius set it up so they can be back working together in S6 but with complications while also leaving us wondering and wanting the new season over the summer.

I will concede I could be totally wrong. I am very pessimistic at times but every time I have thought the worse AWM makes it ok and shows us that these two are meant to be together. Will be bumps along the way but the best is yet to come.
