The striped doesn't even twitch. He just lowers his gaze, closes his eyes, and curls his tail about his paws, retreating into his own mind, and therefore mental safety.

He then focuses, visualizing within his mind the warm flow of russet water that he alone could coerce from he soil, it was his energy, special to him, and would answer only to his calling. He summoned it forth in his mental eye, picturing the beauty of shimmering russet as it poured from the living ground through his paws and flowed within him. It enwrapped his legs in a wave of scarlet light, then emanated through them, arching upwards into his stomach. Then, arching into his back, it pushed through his flesh and set his soul alight with warmth and made him at one with the pulsing of the earth from which it continued to flow. It enwrapped his entire torso now, spreading to his arms, and tightly fitting into his veins and arteries, pulsing not only with the earth now but with his own heart. His eyes opened and were no longer blue but red, and the powerful energy burst forth from his eyes, from his paws now as he rose them, from his mouth as in his mind he howled and sang. The glowing emanated from his ears, and then slowly just covered his head, flowing down his neck and back once again, each pore opening to feel the energy, pulsing, throbbing, alive! His tail uncurled from his hind paws and his tailblade shone with the reflection of the crimson water which surrounded him, and yet, soon enveloped him for he WAS the energy, was the water, was the scarlet fire that burned from his soul!

He basked in the wonder of it all... feeling the perfection and loving it... until suddenly the red began to dim, pouring in a waterfall all around him, leaving him with only a tinge of the glow he'd maintained, and otherwise back to regular Zrego.

The midnight eyes open, and simply stare at the earth which had allowed him that wonder...
