Subject: Hmm. If it isn't my favorite tan. =O,o=
In reply to: Atumi 's message, "Back again for another day of pain, eh?" on 19:57:22 02/07/03 Fri

Atumi lets out a very low, almost inaudible growl as he listens to Akar's words. With less patience than usual, he remains silent as Phoemrut has his say, and with a flick of his velvet-grey blade, dismisses the older black from his attention span momentarily. Ebony fur rippling with each deliberate step, the pack second approaches Akar, only stopping when less than a foot separates their muzzles. Ears firmly flattened and teal gaze still alight with anger, the suddenly-much-more-forceful mindvoice enters Akar's pitiable skull. Though you might believe yourself right in defending another who was just as obviously at fault as yourself, do not do so. It is commendable that you feel the urge to risk your own neck to save another's, and in battle that is a virtue. In training, it is not. My sole purpose here is to make you -all of my students- better Korats in every way possible. If you defend Phoemrut, who by the Sun doesn't need your help, then you defeat my purpose. Atumi makes a conscious effort not to rake the ground with his dark claws as he continues in a low but very intense tone. Akar, I understand that you have not spoken in years. But talking does not hamper your ears. However... I appreciate the fact that you do not whine, and you take your tongue-lashing with head held high. The barest of smiles touches the black's sleek muzzle before vanishing without a trace. Let's hope you don't need to do so again in the future.

The pack second steps away from Akar, anger draining from his supple form. He looks to Phoemrut and his voice, stern but not as powerful as what Akar experienced, enters the older black's mind. You see the truth of the matter, luckily. It will be some time before Akar learns that it takes two to battle. Sharpen your mind and your blade, Phoemrut. If you are to be my student, you will get no special treatment despite your age and reputation. This last sentence is said with a very slight tinge of amusement underlying the rippling tenor, and Atumi unlinks easily. Almost as an afterthought, his voice -almost quiet now- reaches out to Akar. Good job on speaking to the group. I admit, I didn't think you'd be able to do it so quickly. A mental laugh accompanies the words and Atumi angles his blade to point at the mute male. A tiny blue spark leaps from the sharp tip and lands squarely between Akar's white eyes. And abruptly, that headache is no more.

A half-amused, half-annoyed look is shot at Arukit for her amusement, and an almost serpentine mental touch silently reminds her that she'd better, Be careful, Arukit, lest my wrath fall upon your head next. Numi's slight overreaction earns her a quiet snort, though the male wonders if he's so used to disrespecting, unafraid students that it only seems that she's exaggerating when in fact, she's perfectly in tune with how dangerous he is? Now amused, Atumi inhales to begin the next part of his lesson-- when the gentle patter of paws slapping against green branches catches his attention. His muzzle angles upwards, watching southwards as his insanely good vision catches a pale blur rocketing forward. In silence, teal gaze watches the small tan descend and approach him, and the urgency in her eyes is almost alarming. Atumi rumbles in his throat before speaking to his students, "Practice connecting to others. See if any of you can achieve Akar's success in reaching the group. If any of you know any telepathic 'tricks', share them." The black chuckles under his breath, "And if you know none, you'll find them soon enough." With a restrained stretch, Atumi slips into a brisk sprint further northwards. It's quite obvious that Shula's sister is unwilling to speak in front of his students. Once out of earshot of the group, the black swivels and cocks his head at Tasiri, awaiting the expected outburst.
