Date Posted: Sun, Oct 14 2012, 21:15:18 GMT In reply to: Dave Piercy 's message, "Flap Mechanism Changes" on Sun, Oct 14 2012, 11:04:01 GMT I had a paddle through the info that came with my Pulsar (build by the previous owner). There’s lots of info including the makers news- letters etc, but I couldn’t find anything on extra flap ribs. I put a dink in one of my flaps, pulling the plane into my hangar in the pitch dark (one door was half shut!). As part of the repair I made an extra rib and riveted it in where the dink was straightened out. To make the rib I cut a pair of “cheese wedges ” from 19mm thick MDF and profiled to just fit inside the flap. Then I sandwiched a bit of aluminium sheet, (dimensions as per a flattened out rib) between the wedges, squashed the wedges in a vice, and then gently tapped over the flanges with a rubber mallet. If it’s any help I could photograph my flap – you can see from the rivets where the LAA extra ribs were fitted. Cheers Bob [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
