Barry, a £500 overhaul kit stinks. That is just crazy. This sounds very much like the £40 radiator cap scenario to me. An absolute rip off. Amazing really. You choose a Rotax engine to use in your plane and they thank you by charging rip off prices for spares. I found a genuine rad cap at a quarter of the price. If you do some investigation on the web no doubt you will find the bing carb overhaul parts at a fraction of the cost. Have you tried Ecclestone Aviation. (Keith Worthington)
Conrad Beale is a very nice chap by the way. I just don't endorse the high prices he and his Father are charging for spares when they are available elsewhere at a fraction of the cost. If anyone needs 582 generators which are prone to fail I also know of a source at a fraction of the cost of UK Rotax prices. Thats my 10c rant over. Good luck.
