I absolutely agree with you - 4 stroke, low revving, direct drive with no rattly gearbox, 50% more power (and a wide flat torque curve so you can both fly fast and get airborne). I even had my name down for one of the first 10 off engines.

Both Rotax and Jabiru have had the foresight to provide a bed mounting option for their various engines. Nothing clever, just a couple of bosses/holes at the prop end of the crankcase that are strong enough to take the weight and thrust.

D-Motor have decided not to offer this option. But if enough Pulsar / 582 owners were to email D-Motor explaining why their aircaft can only accept bed mountings perhaps they will re-visit that decision - the design effort would be minimal and the extra production costs a few pence.
