Hi Paul.

I looked at the HKS a while back, in particular the turbo version that was rated at 80hp. From my research at the time, it turned out that it would be a much tighter fit than the D-Motor, but I never really went past that point. I think the standard 700E would be a bit low on power.

Of the research I did complete, the engine got very favourable reviews, and is allegedly reliable as a stone.

Much as I would like a D-Motor, I am of the opinion that the 582 is a good engine. Properly installed it is cheap to run and requires very little maintenance. I have never decoked mine except when I put the revised crank in at 300 hours. I've sat behind it for 400 hours, it's never missed a beat and I have to say, it's been a cracking little engine. (fingers crossed). I do believe that some 582's have been problematic because they are not thoroughly warmed up, and cold seizures are the result.

Nonetheless, I yearn for a D-Motor. I've started saving for mine!
