My new Tacho drive circuit now works well and I also have a multi-purpose display that can give me a digital rpm readout.

But I have had a problem with the battery voltage randomly pinging up high (sometimes up to 17 volts!) I found that although my earth wires were all well terminated the two bolts holding the regulator to its plate were loose. I've just noted that Alan's original comment with my tacho problem was to check ALL earths, so perhaps that was also the source of my tacho problem.

Anyway its good to know my tacho is reading accurately, so I now feel more confident when the needle goes over the 6000 rpm mark.

Thanks to everyone for for all the help and suggestions

Bob
