In reply to: Barry 's message, "XP Radiators" on Fri, Apr 26 2013, 7:21:45 GMT

Hi Barry, The idea is to have a metal sheet attached on each side on the lateral brackets supporting the radiators and that could be pulled up with a cable(bicycle type), this cable passing accros the fire-wall in a 90 degree bent alu tube, and being connected to a throtle control (A-1840 T-HANDLE, Spruce Ref). Pulling on this control pulls the shutter up,and close air flow behind the radiators. To keep this shutter in down position, the shutter is fixed to the lateral brackets with 2 thick rubber bands, and a spring is installed around the cable between the shutter and the front part of the alu tube. detail of this shutter, the front edge is strait just behind the radiators and the aft edge is bent to adjust with aft part of the lower cowling, this being done by bending a litle the metal sheet between the aft center and each front corner, and continuing several bendings spaced 1 cm at a time of the aft center, always to the front corner of the sheet. I recently dicussed that subject with my inspector, he has no objection,as it does not interfere with any other system.
Hope to be clear enough, it is not easy ( and also being french)
