Has anyone ever done a static leakdown test on a 582 engine? The Rotax 582 checklist says to inspect rings for sticking every 50 hours, but I would prefer to strip the engine only when necessary. So if a compression test could be used to confirm the rings are not sticking perhaps this would avoid the need for a strip down?

Because the Pulsar is so slippy the engine is very lightly loaded in cruise, and I wonder if this makes the Rotax figures just too cautious?
