I would suggest you check your ASI accuracy. 70 mph is way too high. Have you weighed it? Check your centre of gravity. When you say stalling, you should get 6 or 7 knots of buffeting on the stick before a full stall. I approach to land at 60 kts, (70mph) and never got near a stall at that speed.
