The TPS is a composite switch; ie it has two switches inside; one is to tell when the throttle is closed(at idle) and the other is to tell when the throttle is 2/3rd s open or Wide Open.
All you want to do is make sure the closed that the closed(idle) switch is zero ohms and that it goes to high ohms as soon as you open the throttle the slightest little bit.
On the other pin, you want to see high ohms until about the 2/3 rds open position, then the resistance will either drop to zero(closed or drop gradually the closer to being fully opened.
Don't you dare go off buying parts that any half assed mechanic could fix up...blind folded ;>) It's really pretty simple...just try it and you will see.
