Something at the hospital lang last night... there was a hit and run accident patient who came in... dripping blood in the ER as they transported him to the trauma room... he started off just as a trauma (yung major accident) then he went into respiratory arrest (code blue)... anyway, i don't think anybody expected him to die (there wasn't any bodybag like last time and this time it took about 30 minutes of everyone trying to get him to breathe) and ten minutes after he was dead to see if there was any final hope..

So ayun, they couldn't inflate his lungs so tepok... we (the other volunteer and I) went in to see the dead body. It wasn't really scary but you could just see his eyes wide open staring... basta very lifeless eyes. His whole head was still bleeding pero no open wounds (so internal lahat i guess) and blood was just leaking out of his nose and head (the techs were trying to clean him up before the family came), both his arms were lying limp off the bed... and he was so young too! 20 or 21 years old! They haven't catched the guy who hit him yet. It wasn't in our area, he was just transferred to our hospital.
i couldn't help but think of City of Angels...

And the techs were telling us how families like to see the bodies "as is" ... grabe, i can't imagine seeing a family member or friend bloody lying like that on the gurney...

and despite how many deaths nurses and doctors have dealt with, i guess there's still some stress on them... some nurses went out for a smoke.., etc.
