Subject: LST 56 - Participation in the Invasion of Normandy 1944

My father was Gerald A. Ottens, S2c (ship's cook) on LST-56 who participated in the Invasion of Normandy. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey but lived most of his life in Clinton, Iowa. He passed away back in 2002 and didn't say much about D-Day or about what all was involved as a cook on the LST. Does anyone have any photos of the crew onboard the LST-56? Or photos of the ship itself? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I also want to mention that I have a copy of the Original D-Day LST-56 US Naval Operational Map June 6, 1944 #132, if anyone is interested.
