The Sui Southern issued a clarification on Monday explaining Aqeel Kareem Dhedhi’s remarks made to the NAB, as reported by The News.A statement on Monday said: “Apropos of the news item that appeared in The News. The Company management itself discussed the issues contained in the news item with business tycoon Aqeel Karim Dhedhi who denied making ‘serious allegations’ against any person or SSGC. He has categorically said that the various statements attributing to him in the press have been misreported and clearly distort the facts. He maintained that he has not leveled any allegations against SSGC and its operations. “SSGC is a listed public limited Company engaged in fair and transparent effort to maintain its corporate image. Such unfounded and misleading accusations not only impair SSGC’s profile but also dampen the company’s effort to portray it as an exemplary organization; hence circulation of such news should be avoided.” Waseem Abbasi adds: The News stands by its story that business tycoon Aqeel Karim Dhedhi made serious allegations against SSGC top officials. The NAB sources confirmed that Dhedhi gave detailed evidenceagainst SSGC top management and the Bureau has the audio and video recording of Dhedhi’s statement. The entire SSGC clarification is based entirely on the statement of businessman Dhedhi. It would have been better for the company management to cross check the facts with National Accountability Bureau (NAB). According to sources Dhedhi’s allegations against SSGCL officials are so serious that NAB is considering making him a witness against the company. “Dhedhi has named his men in the SSGCL during the interrogation,” a source said. Sources in NAB told The News that top management of SSGCL is itself required for interrogation as there are 50 serious allegations against the company management in Rs50 billion Ogra scam. Sources confirmed that the EX-Managing Director of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) Dr Faizullah Abbasi, company’s GM Finance Arsalan, Deputy GM Finance Ashfaq and few other officials are being served third and final notice today (Tuesday) as they have failed to respond to previous two notices. Under NAB law, a person could be arrested if he does not appear before the investigators after the issuance of the third notice.
