He completely trampled on our Constitution. During the Civil War, he basically became a dictator. He took measures that should have been done by Congress, and actually delayed calling Congress for THREE months, so that when it finally met, Congress had to go along with Mr. Lincoln.
In Maryland, during the state elections, under Lincoln, thousands of federal troops who had no connection with Maryland, and therefore no right to vote, voted in them. The reason why was Maryland was an important swing state at the beginning of the Civil War.
And furthermore, Lincoln basically imprisoned anyone who was outspoken in opposing him. Figures are given up to 10,000 people who were imprisoned for "treason." (Saying the South had the right to succeed.)
This went SO far, that Lincoln actually gave a warrant for the arrest for the CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT. I am not joking. The Supreme Court RULED that what Lincoln was doing was un=Constitutional, and NOT ONLY DID LINCOLN COMPLETELY INGORE IT, he attempted to arrest the Chief Justice. (It failed, which is just as well for Lincoln.)
Oh yeah, did I mention that the South had every right to succeed if they wanted to, and Lincoln denied this?
