Riding her stallion, Vivian heard the humming. She dismounted, and tied her gelding and stallion to a tree. Then she tied Joyce with them, since she was a pesty annoyance to flits. She edged closer to the cove, and a black hawk came hurtling down. She hushed it, and watched a tiny, fairylike green spiral up. The poor thing was so tiny...she wanted to help her. She pulled out a few pieces of jerky, and offered it to the still slightly damp hatchling.

The hatchling looks at the brown meat, and flew down. She was till hungry, and wanted meat. As she flies, she is drawn to the girl who holds the meat. As soon as she snaps he meat up, she is being stroked and crooned over. She snuggled down, She could get used to this!

Vivian untied her two runners, and this time mounted Keli, leading Trumble. In a saddlebag across Trumble's back was Joyce, a large pack of camping supplies and credits evely balancing her.

(I've read nothing in the books that say this is wrong. Just after the hatching, and still hungry. Please correct me if I am in the wrong. If I am, then Viv was watching the hatchilngs, and wishing for one of her own. Again, if I am in the wrong, I apologize.))
