Torch watched with eyes whirling as the hatchling all broke free, one by one. When the wherrie headed for the young green, however, he helped his love fend it off, and let his daughter live. However, when no other flit came to her aid, Torch took matters into his own hands. Stealing a small bit of seaweed, he brought it to the young girl, and fed her. She crooned, weak and small, and the father put a protective wing over her. If she was still hungry, maybe he could take her to his impressor, Synthis!

Torch watched with a farewell chirp as his kids left, and chirped over to Tali. Sending her a mental image of his impressed, and giving her soft images that he would return, he nudged the young green, and she spread her wings. With Torch's aid, the young one flew higher, and, in a wink, both parent and daughter went between, the hatchling's first time.

After a minute, Torch winked back, and flew to where Tali and Aylana where. Giving a chirp, he sent Aylana images and thoughts that cleary stated that she owned the most wonderful green on Pern, and he hovered next to her arms, and gently nestled his head against Tali. She was wonderful. And their children would be, too.
