Jari watches Ina's egg begin to shudder and then shatter with wide, awed eyes and bated breath. Then, halfway through the flit-gobbling-food process, a tentative twitch of her own egg brings her gaze around and down immediately. She watches, shoulder-length brown hair falling over her eyes, as delicate cracks form on the creamy surface of the shell, deepening slowly with each insistent jerk of the hatchling within. Just as Ina's words register in her mind and the remainder of the fresh meatrolls are placed in her lap, a tiny emerald talon juts through the largest seam, swiftly followed by a tail and then a dainty snout. The little green is freed from her hardened prison then with one more full-bodied convulsion, and sharp-edged shards of eggshell go flying everywhere, a few peppering Jari's brown tunic and one becoming lodged in a lock of wavy hair. An incredulous, unrestrained smile stretching ear-to-ear, the former hunter instantly proffers a meatroll held easily between two fingers, which the green gobbles and then squalls shrilly for more, fast-whirling eyes looking up pleadingly. It takes all but two meatrolls to stuff the insatiable hatchling, and Jari strokes the slick hide as the fire lizard curls up in her hand and falls asleep.

"Wow," she whispers, still grinning madly. "I think I'll call her Maka." Dark mostly-blue eyes lift from the softly snoring flit to glance over at Ina. "Thanks for bringing me out here." Then, amusement overtaking awe, she offers one of the two remaining meatrolls to Ina. "Snack?" she grins.
