Ekenda stood at the dock, making no move to go out on the sea, just taking that rare minute alone to look at the sunrise, that rare time alone she hardly ever had, since being promoted to Master Fisher. Merk, her bronze fire lizard chirped eagerly, flying about the mast of her personal dinghy, The Landslide, as if telling her he wanted to go sailing. A smile tugged at Ekenda's lips. Her fire lizards, bronze Merk and brown Kipo had an unusual preference for sailing, that she thought they might have picked up from her. Ekenda hopped into The Landslide, remaining low and in the center of the craft, to keep it from rocking. "Merk! The top notch," she said, and the bronze flew obligingly to the top, undoing the knot that held the sail cover on, and Ekenda finished the job, uncovering the main and jib sails, hoisting them up.

Quickly untying the knot that held her close to the shore, she managed a push-off. Kipo trilled eagerly, as he perched on her shoulder, and Ekenda laughed, combing her fingers quickly through her windtossed hair, her lifejacket now on snug.

Soon they were far out into the sea, nary a cloud in sight. "Hello, Jyr!" she called to their dolphin escort. "Bad bad storm on th' wayay. Go back shore quick!" Jyr was rather young, but Ekenda knew better than to ignore any dolphin. "Thanks Jyr," she murmured, and tossed him a fish for his troubles. Swining the mainsail around, and adjusting the jib so that she was headed for home, Ekenda glanced over her shoulder at the fast-approaching clouds.

"Shards! This'll be a big one." Kipo and Merk chirped anxiously, catching on to her nervousness. She hated to do so, but she gave them a clipped command of silence, she didn't have the time to soothe them. Her efforts were to no avail, as the storm caught up with them about 3/4 of the way back. Muttering a curse or two under her breath, Ekenda unfurled the sails to their fullest, letting the wind carry her quickly back to shore.

As The Landslide slammed into the docking cavern, she quickly tied and anchored it, running back for shelter in one of the emergency caves where food and water were stored, in case the captain of the boat didn't have time to get to another shelter. Sighing, Ekenda bundled up in one of the stored blankets, she hoped this storm wouldn't last one. Kipo and Merk snuggled into the blankets, and she sighed, reassuring her brown and bronze.

*She does have a brown and bronze flit, justa let you know, or she will if she's approved...* :)
