"Here we are, Raskith," S'kar says softly. Out of habit, he steps back against the wall and begins to blend into the shadows.

Raskith looks at his bondmate with concern. �What's wrong, S'kar?� he asks anxiously.

�I'm not all that comfortable around people,� S'kar admits. �I spent most of my time at home outside or hidden, so my foster-brother's wouldn't tease me.�

�Well, these people aren't your foster-brothers, and if they try to tease you, I'll deal with them!� Raskith says fiercely. He slips his neck between S'kar and the wall and uses it to shove the boy back out into the light. �I'm sure a lot of these people would like to get to know you, and be your friends,� he adds in a gentler tone.

"Friends?" S'kar squeaks. �Raskith, I've never had any friends before. Except for you, of course,� he adds, gazing lovingly into the deep blue eyes of his dragon.

�You're my best friend ever,� Raskith avows. �And I hope I'm yours. But it's time you had human friends. Come on. Get away from the wall. Circulate and get to know people!� He sends S'kar stumbling out into the crowd with a well-placed shove between the shoulder blades.
