Kalya walked over, and saw how Wessae responded to unvoiced questions. I think he may be mute, Lay. I'll say 'hello' and you can ask him to convey anything he wants to say through you.

Alright. Hello, Massath. Is their anything your rider would like to tell my rider? Layath asked, just as Kalya spoke:

"Hello R'ven, Massath. I'm Kalya, and this is my Layath," she said, gesturing lovingly at the form of the golden dragon beside her.

She turned to Wessae and Shrineth. "Hey you guys. How's it going?" she asked, smoothing the wrinkles in her russet-colored gown.

Don't spill klah on it.
Why, Layath?
Because then you'll be purplish or something and I'll still be golden. And we won't match as much. I want everyone to know that you're my rider! Layath finished, bugling proudly.
Lay! Don't break everyone's eardrums! but there was no force in her reprimand. Layath was proud of her, and didn't care who knew it. Unlike her father.
Don't be sad, Lya! You are the best, most wonderful, smart and intelligent person alive! Why else would I choose you as my rider?

Kalya noticed a tear of wonder and amazement at this dragon in front of her. How in Faranth could I have been so lucky to Impress you, Layath?

Luck was not involved. It was my choice.
