"Congratulations!" He grins at her. "I'm glad you give me an 'A', since I don't know what I'd do without our Benden Weyrwoman's approval." Turning his cheerful smile to S'sha, he adds: "My dear S'sha needs your rating so that she can sell me at that banquet." T'ren squints. ~The banquet? I think I'm missing something...~ It is then that he remembers the note, crumpled and stuffed in his pocket. ~One banquet! And the second!~ "S'sha, there's a banquet going on right now, at Lemos. And there's another one that Lord Fernon of Igen wishes us to provide rides to." Remembering yet a third thing, he passes three notes to S'sha, for her and Ginny's eyes. "Bad things," he says grimly.

The first one reads: To all malcontents of Pern, come to the cave off Igen Weyr. I am spreading, the word of the malcontents. I have created a group of bandits and thieves to bring some lawlessness to Pern. I shall be hitting trade caravans, and gathers all over Pern, so join me now.

And the second: Adressed to the assembled Weyrleeaders and Weyrwoman of Pern,

I found this notice pinned to the wall of my crafthall. I found it rather unnerving, and decided that it was worth investigating. You might wish to send in a group of lightly armed riders to this, "cave off Igen Weyr" to attempt to capture this band of theives. They sound like a potentially problematic lot.

I also wished to alert you to the fact that our crafthall is frighteningly low on healers. We at present have only myself, three apprentices, and a single journeyman. You might wish to encourage those who are otherwise unoccupied and might be interested in the craft to come here to seek training--with thread now falling again, Faranth knows we need more healers.

The third one: To all Weyrleaders of Pern,
Alaseri is not the only one to hear of malcontents. Unfortunately, I have been their victim. Just this morning, the forge was robbed of many valuable items. I do not know if these are the same as Alaseri's bandits, but it would be wise to keep all eyes open.
