A strange comparison can be drawn between the people of the Neolithic Revolution and the modern city of Los Angeles. These similarities can be explored by comparing the first Neolithic civilizations with the cities and region of Southern California. The people of Catal Huyuk can be attributed for introducing the world to the fine art of interior decorating. Wall murals adorned the homes and town walls all throughout Catal Huyuk. This is a fetish that has proven consistent throughout the test of time. Lovely wall murals are often provided to the city of Los Angeles by the youth that live in the area. A quick look at the set up of Catal Huyuk and one could draw another similarity between it and the city of Los Angeles. Hardly any land was wasted on housing as seems to be the trend in Southern California. Perhaps the people of Catal Huyuk show more reason for this in using the surrounding lands for agricultural reasons and not a tangled mess of roads for transportation. Craftspeople and artisans helped promote the culture of the Neolithic Revolution. The fact that people discovered methods to support themselves on doing something that they enjoy, such as basket weaving, seems to define the outlook of many who dwell within the Southern California region. Los Angeles is filled with people who do only that in which they wish, playing the desires to make money doing these things. A characteristic that can be accredited to those in the Neolithic Revolution who decided farming and raising animals was not for them, but wanted to make a living doing something they take pleasure in. Much can be learned when one is glancing into the past. One of the most prominent features of history is that it is still with us today. The Neolithic Revolution was truly the beginnings of the modern city and evidence of this can be seen everywhere one takes a look.
