Grinning, Talla nods. "Thank you for admitting it, at least." She can see the reluctance in Tsuga's admission, and can guess its source. Nobody wants to start with "getting used to" these things - we all want to flame right away! The firestoners have it easy, they usually can, and it doesn't seem fair. Glad she was honest, though, or I wouldn't have known she hadn't done this part until I or one of the dragons was getting burn treatment. Picking up the other flamethrower, she goes on. "Walk around, and try different ways of holding it until you have the one that balances best for you - and more importantly, one that will allow you to hang on tight. These things have a nasty kick, and it takes some practice just to hold them stable, that's why we start with trying out the balance." It only seems fair to at least explain to Tsuga why she has to lug it around a bit first. "When you think you've picked a good grip for you, one that you can hang on to even if you're shaken around a lot, tell me." Talla carefully doesn't give advice on how exactly to achieve that good grip, and won't unless Tsuga asks. It would be rude and offensive to baby a fully adult woman like that. A young girl like Talla had been when she'd learned, yes, but not an adult. Instead, she hefts her own, gripping it the way that works best for her. "And shift those fuel tanks around on your back a bit. There's nothing worse than a fuel tank strap pulling in the wrong place after you've been in the air for an hour."

Settling down into a half-lying position, Mylanith studies her rider with slowly-swirling blue eyes, debating whether to take a nap. She wants to keep an eye on that young upstart and her rider, in case Tsuga takes it into her head to flame Talla or Mylanith herself, or Alestiath gets uppity after seeing her senior napping. Finally, she decides to risk a nap. Wake me when you need me, she orders Talla firmly, before lowering her head and closing her eyes.

/Of course, my heart./
