Author: I'mer & Svorath
Subject: >Introductions<
In reply to: Noel(Karath) 's message, "Blush Reflections" on 19:03:52 03/09/05 Wed

As he puts the last flamethrower neatly away, I'mer looks up at the greenrider mending harness nearby. He'd known, through Svorath, when she and her dragon had entered the Perches, but he'd been occupied with a sticky valve, and didn't want to take his attention away from the delicate machinary. Now the brownrider rises and looks through the weyrling harnesses himself, quickly finding one that could use oiling, and uses it as an excuse to sit down next to Noel. He's always eased himself into socialization, especially with trainers. For a long moment I'mer works in silence; then his hands pause on the harness straps, and he glances over at Noel as if just noticing her presence. "Hello," he greets, his rumbling baritone soft even in the relative silence of the nearly empty Perches. "Helping tidy up? I'm I'mer, rider of brown Svorath," he adds, gesturing to the dragon that swims lazily in the lake, enjoying the sunlight and the water. I'mer is no stranger to awkward meetings, but he winces inwardly at the way he'd sounded, as if he'd had to force the introduction. He'll never be good at the first steps of making a new acquaintance.

Like his rider, Svorath isn't good at initial introductions, but he has an advantage in his greater physical grace and the ease of dragon communication. Surfacing with as small a splash as he can manage, so as not to splatter the green, he surges towards the shallows, pulling up beside Karath and turning an interested blue-green eye on her. His wet hide looks black due to the water, not the extremely dark brown that bright sunlight usually reveals it to be, but he knows she'll recognize his color as much through draconic instinct as eyesight. /Nice day for a bath,/ he remarks, as bad at off-hand starting comments as his rider. /I'm Svorath, and that yellow-skinned, slanty-eyed human over there is my I'mer./ Despite the rather unflattering description of his rider's Asian features, there's genuine affection in the brown's voice. They're practically one, after all.
