X�thrall couldn�t believe his ears. He put an arm around her, and wondered, slightly enraged with a brother-like protection for the girl.

How could anyone just dump Elaini aside like that? Elaini was a sweet, loyal, beautiful greenrider� what had she done to deserve that? Nothing, that�s what. And that jerk of a bronzerider thought he could just leave her for the gold? In the back of his mind, Golgith reminded him that all bronzes and browns were reported to go, but �Thrall pushed it aside. W�ntyr had a perfectly good woman. Who would knw if he didn�t turn up for the flight? X�thrall had heard that they had plenty to satisfy Shrineth�

Always, always, always�

Calmly, X�thrall realized that the two men that had made them both miserable that day were best friends. He pulled Elaini up into his lap, trying to calm her, running a hand through her hair. Elaini hadn�t done anything to deserve this.

And neither did he.

��Laini, neither of us did anything to deserve this� did we?� He asked. He needed to be reassured.

I just can�t live without you�
