Black Knight laid under a pine tree, far from the territory in which he used to call his own. His thoughts where centered on Star, he had left her, for reasons he could not explain. Holding his silky head up, he thought, could I return? would they hate me for ever leaving? Would Star think of me as a betrayer? These thoughts scared him, but he knew he would never know unless he would go back. Rising to his obsiddian limbs, the big black wolf found himself loping down a familiar trail, the one he had walked down the very first day at Silver ridge. It was usually surrounded by lush beauty and creatures of the forest. But with winter, the trees where barren, and not a bird sung. Every now and then he would see a squirrel, but still, it was a depressing scene. When he came from the trees, his head down and his tail hanging limply at his hind legs. He howled the most friendly greeting he could do. He would understand if Frost and Silver shot ran him and drove him away, after all, he had left the pack that they had so graciously accepted him into. Whining, Knight awaited his fate.
