The powers that be just need to do a cut and dry rule like the Midwest “no bling” U10 rule—something along the lines of no-bling/no make-up(U12?)/no tanner(?) until Preliminary/Open champs in ANY competition world-wide. Once dancers get turned away for bling, make-up, tanner or Whatever to go wash it off or change costumes, THen parents/teachers will follow the “rules”. Someone is making money off all of these “extras” the dancers don’t need! Do the dancers live bling, make-up and tanner, etc? Sure, but the vast majority of them don’t have to pay for it (patents do)! And honestly I think Swarovski are WAy overpriced and would be so much happier with those “cheaper” rhinestones from rhinestone guy (I forget what those are called) as those actually look better from further away and are half the price (or more!)

Completely agree. Apart from the added expense I think it looks inappropriate on young kids. Many folk outside the world of ID look on our dance kids in the same way as they do beauty pageant kids.
