As the cane can cause long term injury if used across the thighs, Mummy was careful to use a strap. But the strap on the thighs particularly if prolonged burns as long as the cane when that was employed across my buttocks. My mother employed both techniques.

My mother often dressed me in bib shorts with cross braces even when a teenager. She thought that boys grow up far to soon. So it was sometimes more convenient to strap my thighs. Usually right down each thigh. It was purgatory. Though There were plenty of bare bottom spankings as well of all kinds, employing hand strap and cane.
