It probably brings back memories of when your own mother sat in on your physical exams. My mother sat in on my physical exams all the way through high school. But in the last years of her life she moved into the town in which I lived and started coming to my doctor appointments again. It was easier to let her come in with me than answer the thousand questions she would have had after had I gone in alone. And it was a nice throwback to when I was a kid and she sat in with me.
