That is very common Jonas. My mother came with me until the end of high school and most guys I knew had their moms in there at least until 16, many later than that. I know guys who had their moms sit in on their physicals even in college. I think that having a parent come with you, even a mother for a boy's physical exams, is better than being in there alone.
