It was 45 yrs ago when paddling a guy in football was common--Having said that--our coach paddled too much I now think sort of a psych sexual deal---He would make guys bigger and stronger than himself lay across his lap and get paddled and it really hurt and was a humiliating position It was not addiction but perhaps a sort of addiction to power or a sense of dominance---and it hurt alot too!
