I have been in contact with your mother, Hannah, and she has invited Tessa and I around to give us a demonstration of her use of the wooden spoon. Never too old to learn, I say!
We will, of course, be bringing slipper, and strap to the show, to offer an alternative solution to your suffering mother (or indeed,father?). She only has to ask, and Tessa or I will be glad to advertise our wares (that didn't sound right!), and put your bare bottom through its paces over either or both of our respective knees.
Normally, a small covering charge would be offered for this service, but we feel that you are a deserving need, and will consent to a pro bono service.
The wooden spoon is like getting a large number of bee stings to your bottom isn't it? High intensity of pain from the first whack.
