My youngest absolutely loved it and went for many years. Started going when she was 8 or so. Sheila and Tony are lovely and the kids are looked after well. My older girls went for one year each, but didn’t like it as much. Not because of any issue with the camp itself, but I just think it wasn’t their thing. I’ve seen the same with other kids - some love it, others don’t. But if your child is anxious to go and you can afford it (I know it’s expensive), I’d say go for it. Depending on your child’s personality, it might help to go with a friend. My youngest did not, but it didn’t matter - she made friends with girls from all over. Others may want a buddy.
