We have a test page on our site. If you have IE 5 or down, or Netscape 4.5 or down, the page tells you that you can't use our system because of javascript, CSS, etc.

Quite a long time after we implemented that system, one of our Board members called us saying she was having problems getting in.

We finally narrowed the problem down to the fact that she was using Netscape and it wasn't parsing some of Oracle's CSS correctly, so she wasn't seeing a good portion of the menu.

When we asked her if she went to the test page first, she said "Yes, but I didn't read what it said because I got a bunch of red X's on it." (If your browser fails in a particular test, it puts up a big, bright red X, then explains next to the X why your browser failed).

After we explained to her that it was telling her that her computer wouldn't work with the system she said, "Oh, right, the system verification page that you said you put in place. I didn't pay attention to that because I thought it only mattered for the customers."

Remember, this is a woman with a PhD.
