Date Posted: 22:32:54 07/14/02 Sun Well, It sucks. That, in a nutshell, is about the best way I can describe the next storyline and why I'm just going to skip it. It was spawned by a discussion I had with my brother a while ago about a site that was trying to raise money to clone Jesus. He had commented that it would be better if they just cloned all of the majors and held a cage match. Needless to say, we were drinking at the time, but it really got me thinking about it all. I started thinking about how a fair number of religions add on requirements and constraints that really weren't part of the original design (so to speak) and how folks tend to heavily personalize their views leading them down fanatical roads that stray from the original concepts. I started thinking about the various cults of personality that were brought up, as well as the ones that are sold to us. I thought about how Wal*Mart has replaced the church in many communities as the focal point of their lives, as well as the fact that in some cases the church isn't very different from Wal*Mart (except in Wal*Mart's case you have something to show for forking over all your cash). I also thought about what it would be like for a clone of someone famous like Mohammad or Moses showing up and suddenly being compared to someone he was grown to resemble. It was a huge soapbox. It wasn't very funny. So I'm skipping it. Seriously, I've been putting off writing this chapter for three weeks because it's just not jelling. I may try to salvage something from the crap I've got so far, but no promises. No worries though either, I've still got more than enough ideas that do work. I hope.
