FYI - After the fire George opened his Pine Hill resort hotel later in 1974. It didn't last too long before closing. I had some fun times there - especially Halloween. Many of the Newburgh crowd (which frequented the Lodge)spent some weekends there.
George was a kind-hearted man who I'll always remember. I can't tell you the times he'd feed me and let me stay in a room at no charge. He'd always introduce me as the best damn writer he knew - even though I never had a thing published. I was only 21.
Many many memories of the Lodge and Pine Hill - times (and friends)long gone never to be seen again. Sigh.
I'm pleased to see a presence on the web to honor his memory. Thanks!
